Happy Halloween!!

After working at this teeny tiny sushi restaurant in Wicker Park for sometime, I was asked to helped to design their Halloween Costume Contest flyer . I agreed, immediately!! So, I created little sushi characters dressing up, ready for trick and treating. Watch out for those little sushi creatures :) And if you are in Chicago area, please participate in our Costume Contest and win our Dine In Only Gift Certificates. Upload your costumes here --> http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kyū-Sushi-Chicago/ <-- Thanks :)

Bak the Zaker

Oooo no, I didin't!!! Yep!!! Chicago's most favorite fro has been cupcake-nized!!! It's Zak Baker, everyone!!! Who is Zak Baker??? Pppfff, where have you been, people?? Zak is a very dear friend of mine. Zak loves to do a stand up comedy, open mic monday at the Shambles Shit Show and the guy never fails to make me cry in tears from laughing out loud. How can you not? Just one look at zak, you know exactly what I'm talking about (In a fabulous way of course!). Zak resides in Pilsen and you will see him at the front row at every concerts there is in Chicago. Why? Because Zak is very passionate about our very own local talents and very supportive of the chicago artist community. I asked Zak a long time ago, what would you REALLY want to be when you grow up? and he said to me "Grow up?!! What's that??? I shall remain a child forever." and that means he is always up to something. And you have to love him for the mischievous person he is :) Everyone should have a buddy like Zak. I'm serious! Meet Zak tonight at the Hideout for the Loneliest Monk show and let him show you a good time :)

Mister Typefaces

Let me introduce you to the men in my life right now, Mr. Typefaces. When i imagined a typeface being a person, i imagined that they're being sorta like these guys above. Mr. Century Old Style is your regular hard working American dude in a grey button up shirt with crossing tie. He is a little uptight because well... he is a very hard worker. His job in finance is a little too demanding and harsh sometimes. But Mr. Old Style here enjoys good beers and appreciates the culinary art. Don't judge him too harshly... because under that heavy mustache, he has the most sweetest smile.

Mr.Baskerville here is from Birmingham, England. A very charming chap with beautiful english accent. Mr. Baskerville loves tea in the afternoon and he fancy dance parties in his finest english tall hat and suit. And when he dance, oohh, he will swoon the ladies.

Last, Monsieur Didot is french (well, duhhh..) Monsieur Didot is an artist who paints and recite poem and sometimes sings his poems to all the beautiful ladies that passes him by. Be careful now, with his charming french accents and free spirited mind, he can easily steals your heart and perhaps run away with it.

How do we like our bachelors?? They will soon be available in prints and perhaps tshirts and tote bags on my etsy page very soon. Whoops... sorry, my store is currently still need some work but please stay tuned. More exciting stuff is coming soon :)

Happy Tuesday.

fontstache

I quit my job about a month ago to pursue my dream to be an independent illustrator. It's been quite a slow month but I am very excited about the projects that I have been working on. Working from home means I can go for an hour of jogging, blasting music out loud, dancing around the house like no one cares, learning how to cook but only to realize that i've been cooking the same thing everyday, bouncing creative ideas with fellow artists or organizing my font book and make a fontstache out of it :) One of the biggest benefit working for myself is the fact that I can choose which project I want to work on and totally make something creative and awesome looking. The goal is I want to make art that will melt your heart and put a smile on your face. So, please stay tuned! Awesome illustrations are on their way :)
